President Uhuru Kenyatta has today conferred State Commendations to several distinguished Kenyans in appreciation of their contribution to various sectors in the country.
Among them was former State House Chief of Staff and Head of Presidential Delivery Unit Nzioka Waita who was awarded Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH).
Waita is now Machakos gubernatorial hopeful.
Paul Nderitu Ndung’u, who is the current chairperson of the St. Johns Ambulance, was also conferred with the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart for volunteering with organisation for over 44 years.
In 2003, he chaired the Ndung’u Lands Commission whose recommendations have been critical in shaping land reforms in the country.
Other recipients of the prestigious awards were Brigadier Carolyne Mutisya (Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear, EBS), Dr Khisa Weston Wakasiaka (Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear, MBS), Polycarp Otieno Onyango (MBS), Maj Hussein Athman Washenga (Order of the Grand Warrior, OGW), Nyariki Alice Kwamboka (OGW) and Mwangi Jane Nduta (OGW).
The awards were given during the Madaraka Day celebrations held at the newly refurbished Uhuru Gardens.
