The Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Eacc) to publicly apologise to her for including her name in a list of tainted political candidates aspiring for elective seats.
The former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary who was dismissed from service unceremoniously said she was unfairly sacked and thus her name ought not to have been included in the list of backlisted candidates that Eacc presented to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Through a demand letter, Shollei Supreme Court had cleared her by ruling that the judicial service commission had sacked her unfairly, and thus, she ought to be compensated.
“It is with concern that I note the irregular inclusion of my name in a so-called blacklist given to IEBC of candidates who should be cleared to run for office. As a matter of public record, all charges against me were withdrawn. This was in October 2017. Just this February, the Supreme Court ruled that I was unfairly sacked by the JSC and declared that I am entitled to compensation. It is therefore malicious that my name would be included in a list of those considered unfit to run for office.” Shollei said.
The EACC released a list of 241 politicians, stating IEBC to stop contesting in the forthcoming August 9 poll.
The institution had cited the grounds for their blacklisting to include corruption, economic crime cases, impeachment, and abuse of office allegations as reasons why the leaders should be barred from public office.
She accused the commission saying it had decided to go on an extra-legal vigilante mission.
