United Democratic Alliance (UDA) gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja is the most preferred candidate for Nairobi with 23 percent of respondents supporting his bid.
According to a new study conducted by Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA), Azimio One Kenya flagbearer Polycarp Igathe comes in second with 15 percent and Richard Ngatia came in third with 3 percent.
However, 53 percent of Nairobi residents do not know who they will vote for as the governor in the August 9 polls.
In April, only 1 percent of respondents wanted independent candidate Agnes Kagure as governor and a similar percentage preferred the incumbent Anne Kananu as their next governor.
In the Senatorial race, 19 percent of voters prefer Edwin Sifuna to be their next Senator, while 6 percent want Bishop Margaret Wanjiru to be their next Senator.
At least 27 percent of respondents want Esther Passaris to keep her post as Women Representative while 6 percent want Millicent Omanga to take her place.
According to the study, 63 percent of respondents are unsure about the Nairobi women’s representative election.
In terms of political alliances, 42 percent of those polled support the Azimio One Kenya coalition, while 22 percent support the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The study also shows that Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is the most popular party in Nairobi with 22 percent of the vote, followed by Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA.
According to the poll, 5 percent of those are in favour the Jubilee party, while 1 percent support the Wiper party.
