Ruto lead in Mt Kenya with 54 per cent points, Raila most preferred candidate

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga leads in Nairobi, Nyanza, Western, Lower Eastern, Northern Kenya and Coast regions while Deputy President William Ruto is ahead in South Rift, North Rift and Mt. Kenya, according to a new survey done by Infotrak.

The survey indicates that Ruto has a significant lead against Raila in the Mt. Kenya region boasted a 54 per cent against 30 per cent for the latter.

“Mt Kenya is definitely a Ruto stronghold, from June to now, Ruto has gained 3 per cent and Raila has lost 3 per cent.  In June, Raila was at 31 in Embu and he has dropped by half; he is at 16 per cent and Ruto has moved from 51 to 63 per cent,” Infotrak Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Angela Ambitho said.

In Nairobi, Raila takes the lead with 42 per cent against his rival Ruto who stands at 30 per cent.

Additionally, Ruto is enjoying a 54 per cent lead in the South Rift region while Raila is tails at 30 per cent.

In the North Rift region, Ruto is ahead with 58 per cent while Raila is at 24 per cent.

With an immense lead gap, Raila is ahead of Ruto in Nyanza with 73 per cent against 11 per cent for his rival. He also leads with 46 per cent in Western while Ruto tails with 25 per cent.

The report shows that the Lower Eastern region is led by Raila at 54 per cent while Ruto is at 25 per cent.

Northern Kenya is largely dominated by Raila’s supporters which puts him at 52 per cent as Ruto follows with 30 per cent.

The Coastal region caps it all with 49 per cent for Raila and 27 per cent for Ruto.

Raila has so far consistently remained the most popular candidate with 43 per cent while Ruto comes in second with 37 per cent.

The Roots Party emerged in third place with 4 per cent George Wajackoyah as David Waihiga Mwaure of Agano Party followed with 0.1 per cent.

The same poll revealed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leads in party popularity with 33 per cent followed by the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) with 31 per cent.

The poll drew 9,000 responses from 290 different constituencies.
