Raphael Tuju said the main reason President Uhuru did not attend the 2017 Presidential Debate was because of the humiliation Deputy President William Ruto had brought to the government during their first term.
Tuju added that after the 2013 General Election, Ruto brought people into the cabinet to help him amass wealth in a corrupt way hence Uhuru avoided the debate since then opposition leader Raila Odinga’s questions were based on corruption practiced in the government and Ruto was the main propagator of this act.
He also blamed the Deputy President for all the financial scandals that have been going on in the electricity company, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).
According to Tuju, it was wise Uhuru kept away from the debate since Jubilee Party did not stand any chance to win the discussions on corruption that would have been raised.
Tuju says that it is better now that Ruto and Uhuru are on different sides in the upcoming general election.
In his opinion, Tuju claimed that Ruto was the one who started doing corrupt deals in the government and should be considered the main centre of corruption in the present outgoing government.
Tuju said that when the Jubilee government was formed in 2013, it was better but financial irregularities found their way in when Ruto made sure, certain individuals were elected to the Cabinet.
