Rigathi “annointment” of 2027 leadership race false-Nyutu

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is once again on the spot over claims that he had reportedly anointed a few leaders from Mt.Kenya region as possible 2027 contenders for various political seats.
Gachagua who was impeached in October last year, has had a series of meetings at his home in Mathira Constituency with a section of the leadership of Central Kenya who are sympathetic to him. He is said to be charting a new political journey with an eye on restoring his influence in the restive region which is a rich vote block.
Amidst the ongoing buzz of realignments,Muranga Senator Joe Nyutu has come out to refute claims that at any one point did the embattled Ex-DP anoint anyone terming the reports as alarmist and false. He insisted that the primary focus for the Mountain leadership was on building a political vehicle that will ensure the region is heard and respected.
“It has come to my attention that there is a misleading narrative being spread by certain leaders suggesting that the Second Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has anointed leaders to replace others in 2027.I would like to categorically address this misinformation and set the record straight. First and foremost, Second DP Rigathi Gachagua, leaders, supporters and those around him have never, at any point engaged in discussions about 2027 positions. To suggest otherwise, is both unfounded and a distortion of the truth,” stated Nyutu in his statement shared to the Press.
Additionally, the current sitting Senate Committee on Education Chairperson went further; “Exposing the shortcomings of the current leadership where necessary, especially their actions that contradict the values of honesty, respect and justice. This includes calling out dishonesty, attacks on religious institutions, criminal associations, and any form of disrespect especially towards women and youth. It is critical to note that these important issues are our current focus and we will not be distracted by baseless political propaganda or unfounded distractions about 2027 positions,” offered the first time legislator.
With the fallout between President William Ruto and the mountain region seeming ominous, Gachagua has taken advantage to drive the message of charting a new path. To this end, the leadership has been split down the middle on the way forward. However, Senator Nyutu has warned that it was time to think of the bigger picture and position Central Kenya as a larger part of the national conversation on good governance.
“We want to hold President Ruto and his administration accountable by ensuring transparency, curbing the looting of public resources and standing firm against human rights violations such as abductions and other injustices.”
The Senator has also accused unnamed people of drawing a wedge between him and sitting Governor Dr.Irungu Kangata labeling them as divisive.
“Murang’a County has made significant has made significant progress because of the cooperative relationship between the Senator and the Governor. This unity has allowed us to prioritize development and the well-being of our people, and we will continue in the spirit of collaboration. “
“The spread of narratives focused on future political positions, particularly regarding the 2027 elections, is being pushed by individuals who seek to divide us and disrupt the delicate balance that has brought about harmony and progress in Murang’a. These efforts are fuelled by those who wish to undermine our unity for their selfish political gains,” said Nyutu.
