Raila to seal corruption loopholes if elected president
Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has assured to close all breaches in order to make money accessible for his social protection scheme.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader claimed today in Vihiga county that World Bank statistics backs up his allegation that Kenya loses Sh700 billion a year to graft.
Kenya’s public sector corruption rating is three, with one being the lowest and six being the highest, according to World Bank 2020 data. Kenya’s corruption index is hence moderate.
This comes barely a day after Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula led campaigning in the Western region.
Mudavadi’s home county of Vihiga used to vote for the ODM leader, but that changed after Mudavadi and Wetang’ula joined Kenya Kwanza.
Wycliffe Oparanya, the ODM deputy party leader and Eugene Wamalwa are leading Odinga’s campaigns in Western.
Governors Sospeter Ojaamong, Wycliffe Wangamati and Wilber Otichillo are also on the team, as are MPs Wafula Wamunyinyi, David Eseli, Ayub Savula and David Eseli.
Odinga conducted the rally to mobilise support for his presidential campaign ahead of the August 9 election.
Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende accompany the ODM leader.
