Raila alleges visit by Chebukati, Guliye, Molu to his house with list of demands

Azimio One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has alleged that Ex-Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati visited his home during the election period.

He made the claims at the Jacaranda grounds while addressing his supporters in a move to continue pushing for President William Ruto to vacate State House on allegations that he did not win the August 9, 2022 presidential elections.

He also claimed that Chebukati was accompanied by former commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu.

The opposition leader challenged the three to come clean on the purpose of the visit as he claimed to possess CCTV footages of the three in his house and challenged them to state what they demanded for during the visit.

“Chebukati said that there were people who tried to bribe them to moderate the election results. But they should also come claen on what they were doing in my house and what they asked for. I have CCTV footages and if they continue playing with our minds, I will release it,” he said.

Chebukati while appearing before Justice Aggrey Muchelule-led panel, had alleged that Azimio Executive Director Raphael Tuju had offered to bribe IEBC commissioners to block President Ruto’s victory.

He claimed that Tuju offered him money once the commissioners accepted to adhere to his demands to moderate the election results in favour of Raila.

Raila called on the International Community to launch investigations into the elections saying that he will not accept IEBC’s fake results.

“We want the Commonwealth Secretariat and UN to send inspectors to Kenya within the next two weeks rather than Ruto conducting investigations or else Kenyans will take matters into their own hands,” he said.

He dismissed the move by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the credibility of the documents allegedly released by an IEBC whistleblower that claimed Raila won the elections with far more votes than Ruto did.

Raila said that the opposition will continue with the public consultative meetings after he returns from Nigeria and Senegal with the next stops in Kamukunji in Kibra and Machakos Town.
