Raila affirms economic liberation to the marginalised as Maa leaders back Azimio

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has affirmed the Maasai and GEMA communities that he will liberate the country’s economy to the next level if elected president.

During a luncheon held by the Mount Kenya Foundation and Maa community leaders in Nairobi Yesterday, Odinga highlighted he will unshackle the economy by urbanizing the economy and focusing on the manufacturing sector

“We cannot run away from the Modern economy. We must create a modern economy; our people are suffering. It’s a primitive way of existence, like other 1st world countries we must move from traditional pastoralism and farming,” he said.

He also urged Kenyans to promote positive ethnicity so as to shun the persistent clashes among communities, especially pastoralists.

“Let us be proud to be a Maasai or any other tribe without thinking of yourself as better than the other person. We want to form a united country where every person appreciates the other,” Odinga said.

In a statement read by Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku, the Maa community promised to rally behind Azimio la Umoja which they indicate will solve issues that have faced the pastoralist community for years.

“We feel safe under Azimio because the vision, values and principles best represent the Kenya we want to see and they include; unity and inclusion, economic prosperity, social welfare, no to corruption and business agriculture/pastoralism,” Ole Lenku said.

Cabinet Secretary for Environment Keriako Tobiko also stated that the 2022 political race remains a two-horse race and the Maa community’s interests are safe with Odinga.

“We have two horses, Azimio and Tangatanga, the question we must ask ourselves is if we have two horses, in whose hands are we safe? We have a duty to work together to ensure Baba wins,” Tobiko said.
