Nairobi Archbishop Phillip Anyolo presiding over Former President Mwai Kibaki’s State Funeral Service has cautioned that no politics will be allowed during the service.
The Catholic Clergy was officiating the memorial service shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta and other dignitaries paid their tributes to the former president.
“In this ceremony no politics or political statements will be allowed,” Anyolo noted.
The retired President Kibaki’s body was laid in State for three days at Parliament Buildings from Monday to Wednesday for the members of public to view.
During this period, members of the public were allowed to view the body.
Kibaki will be buried on Saturday, April 30, at his Othaya home in Nyeri County.
The third President will be accorded full military honours and protocols, including full Military Musical Honours and a 19 gun-salute.
Bishop Martin Kivuva echoed the same message at the end of the prayer service.
“The family of this great statesman, our dear beloved President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, requested that today’s sendoff of this great statesman, our dear beloved President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, be free of any political statements,” Kivuva stated.
