Police recover AK-47 rifle, two pistols as Kenyan, three Ugandan suspects arrested
The gang leader was arrested in the Pumwani area with a pistol tucked in his waist

Police in Nairobi have recovered two pistols, an AK-47 rifle with a fully loaded magazine, and 11 rounds of ammunition following the arrest of a gang of four, including three Ugandans and a Kenyan.
An intelligence-led operation by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) led to the arrest of the gang after a forensic analysis and profiling of each suspect, tying them to various scenes of crimes that are under investigation, prompting a multi-agency team to pursue them.
The DCI revealed that upon arrest, the suspects led them to their hideouts, mostly rented houses, in Saika, Dandora, Huruma, and Pumwani within Nairobi.
The gang leader was arrested in the Pumwani area with a pistol tucked in his waist, while another suspect had another pistol, with 11 rounds of ammunition.
Confirming the arrest, Nairobi Regional Police Commander George Sedah said investigations are ongoing to determine if the weapons were used in previous crimes as he added that adding that the presence of foreign suspects points to cross-border criminal networks.
“We are analysing the firearms for fingerprints and ballistic data,” he said.
The Nairobi police boss urged the public to cooperate with the police by reporting suspicious activity, calling on those in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them.
“We call upon the public to keep working with us. Your information is very valuable,” he stated.
The police boss added that the gang might be behind the series of robberies with violence incidents recently reported in Eastleigh and Kamukunji areas.
They revealed that a motorbike the crew uses to get to their targets is part of the exhibits detectives plan to use in their case against the four men.
