Police are investigating the mysterious and brutal murder of a 22-year-old University of Nairobi student who was found dead inside her rented house in Nairobi.
The body of Lucy Ngendo Waitathu was discovered on Wednesday last week at Studio Haven apartments in Uthiru, Kiambu county.
At the time of her death, the deceased was a Fourth Year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Nairobi.
According to Peter Nguka, the chairperson of the Council of Governors at the Univerity of Nairobi, Ngendo’s body was discovered with stab wounds.
“Saddened to learn of the death of Lucy Ngendo Waitathu, a fourth year student taking Bachelor of Arts. My sincere condolences to the family. Lucy was found dead in her apartments in Uthiru with stabbed wounds. We ask for patience during the inquiry,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
Police believe Ngendo was killed by people she knew well given how the murder was executed.
Speaking to a local television, Directorate of Criminal Investigations detective Simon Chege said that Ngendo appeared to have opened the door innocently for someone she knew very well and that person ended up killing her.
This comes after Ngendo’s sister called on detectives and the National Police Service to hasten the probe and bring the person behind her death to book.
