Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho is dead

Ol Kalou Member of Parliament (MP) David Njuguna Kiaraho has died while receiving treatment at The Nairobi Hospital.

His death was confirmed by Moses Wetang’ula, who said the legislator passed away in the early hours this morning, Sunday, March 29, 2026.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of the Member for Ol Kalou, the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away today at around 20 minutes past 1 am while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” Wetang’ula said in a statement.

The Speaker conveyed condolences to the family, friends and constituents of the late lawmaker, describing his passing as a significant loss to Parliament and the country.

He also announced the formation of a funeral preparation committee to coordinate burial arrangements. The committee will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku and deputised by Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau.

Kiaraho had served as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County since 2013, winning three consecutive terms in the 2013, 2017 and 2022 General Elections.

At the time of his death, he was serving in his third term in the National Assembly.

During his parliamentary career, he was a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

His legislative focus areas included infrastructure development, housing, transport, energy and urban planning.

Beyond politics, Kiaraho was a trained architect and had a long-standing professional career as the principal architect at Archgrid Systems, a role he held since 1994.

He was affiliated with the Jubilee Party and was widely known for his consistent representation of the people of Ol Kalou.

His death leaves a leadership vacuum in the constituency and marks the end of over a decade of parliamentary service. Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.

In 2020, Kiaraho faced investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Eacc) alongside other Ol Kalou constituency CDF officials for for allegedly siphoning Sh55.8 million through fictitious tenders.
