Natembeya heckled, flee from late MP Malulu Injendi’s mass in Malava

Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya was forced to flee the home of the late Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi yesterday after rowdy youths heckled him chanting slogans in favour of President William Ruto.

Natembeya was forced to leave the home prematurely as it became clear that the youths were targeting him due to his firm stance against the Kenya Kwanza government.

His security officers stepped in and escorted him to safety as the crowd became increasingly hostile.

Videos seen on Social media showed the officers standing guard as the governor’s convoy maneuvered through the residence of the late legislator as the youths continued to shout at him.

Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa condemned the incident as he called for peace during the funeral mass of the late MP.

Barasa stated that it was only befitting for the young people to respect leaders in honor of the late MP, who was a calm and peace-loving leader.

”The late Malulu Injendi was a peace-loving leader, from today till the day he will be rested, we want his send-off to be respectful. We do not want any form of violence, and we want to plead with all the residents of Kakamega to demonstrate tolerance,” the Kakamega governor urged.’

The late Injendi will be laid to rest tomorrow at his home in a ceremony that is expected to be attended by various leaders across the political divide.

This comes after a few weeks ago, the Trans Nzoia governor also found himself in a hostile environment at the burial of the mother to the Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

Natembeya found himself on the receiving end after he accused the government of not helping people of Western Kenya as he accused it of orchestrating abductions.

The governor was attacked by the National Assembly leader Kimani Ichung’wa for not using his power when he served as the regional commander for Rift Valley to expose those behind abductions as they were during his tenure as the regional police boss.
