Nakhumicha makes a comeback in latest reshuffle by President Ruto

Former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha will now serve as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Nairobi following her nomination by President William Ruto.
In the new role, the former CS is expected to represent Kenya’s interests at UN-Habitat, the global agency responsible for sustainable urban development and human settlements. If approved by the National Assembly, she will replace Grace Atieno who was named to the position about seven months ago.
Sports PS Peter Tum has also been nominated as the Ambassador to Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as James Buyekane Muhati has been appointed as Consul-General in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, and Abdi Dubat Fidhow has been named Consul-General in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.
Further, the president also nominated Trade PS Alfred Ombudo K’Ombundo to serve as Deputy Head of Mission in Brussels, Belgium.

The nominations have been submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.
The nomination of Nakhumicha comes a few days after Kiminini Member of Parliament Maurice Kakai pleaded with President Ruto to consider her in government appointments.
According to the legislator, the former CS was doing a great job and making major contributions to the Ministry of Health during her tenure.
“I believe that Nakhumicha was doing a very good job when she was in office. As you continue to arrange the government, remember Nakhumicha,” the legislator stated.
Responding to the request, Ruto acknowledged Nakhumicha’s contributions to the health sector, stating that she did a commendable job during her tenure as cabinet secretary.
“I must thank two leaders, former Health CS Susan Nakhumicha who started with me, and current Health CS Deborah Barasa who is helping me in that sector,” the president stated.
