Michael Kilonzo Mualuko is accused of forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to secure employment at NCWSC.
Kilonzo was arraigned at the court today after he was arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following completion of their investigations.
The anticorruption commission received a complaint in October 2023, alleging that Mualuko had presented a forged KCSE certificate purportedly issued by Bishop Ndingi High School.
“EACC detectives arrested and arraigned Michael Kilonzo Mualuko following investigations into allegations of using a forged KCSE certificate to secure employment at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company. The Commission received a complaint on October 12, 2023, alleging that he had presented a forged KCSE certificate purportedly issued by Bishop Ndingi High School. Investigations conducted by the EACC established that the document was falsified and had been used to gain employment at NCWSC,” the anti-graft authority said in a statement.
“Investigations conducted by the EACC established that the document was falsified and had been used to gain employment at NCWSC,” it added.
Upon completion of investigations, the Commission submitted the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who concurred with the recommendation to institute criminal proceedings.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Charles Ondieki, the accused was charged with Forgery, uttering a false document, deceiving principal and presentation of a forged certificate.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and the court is expected to reconvene later this month for the hearing.
This comes even as EACC has reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity in public and private institutions adding that it will continue to take decisive action against individuals involved in document fraud and other forms of corruption.
