Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary nominee, Alfred Mutua convened a meeting today with Uganda’s ambassador to Kenya, Hassa Wasswa Galiwango after controversial remarks by Liutenant. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba challenging to transition the Kenyan government.
Through a statement, Mutua addressed that they held discussions on interesting matters.
“This morning I shared a social cup of tea with Amb. Dr. Hassan Galiwango, Uganda High Commissioner to Kenya. We discussed interesting matters. All is well,” Mutua said.
Muhoozi, President Yoweri Museveni’s son had yesterday issued a threat proposing a possible invasion into the Kenyan territory.
He had then said it wouldn’t take the Ugandan army two weeks to capture Nairobi.
“It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi. After our army captures Nairobi, where should I live? Westlands? Riverside?” he posed.
He later went on and said that if former President Uhuru Kenyatta had vied for another term as president, he would have won.
“My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn’t stand for a third term. We would have won easily!” he said.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said that Muhoozi’s comments threatened the East African Community.
“I expect by morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the Ugandan ambassador to shed light on Gen. Muhoozi’s social media outbursts and subsequent apology. This is undermining the spirit of unity of EAC,” Cherargei said.
National Assembly Moses Wetangula Speaker has also condemned the move and asked Muhoozi to respect Nairobi as Kenya’s capital.
