Muhoroni Youth relegated after FIFA found club guilty of match fixing

FKF, in a statement, reiterated that any form of manipulation in football in Kenya would not be tolerated

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Super League side, Muhoroni Youth FC, has been relegated to FKF Division 1 for the 2025/26 season after the club was sanctioned by world governing body, FIFA, for match fixing after months of investigations by its Integrity Unit.

“Following a thorough analysis of the respective cases and as part of its zero-tolerance policy against match manipulation, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has taken the following decisions,” FIFA said in a statement on its website.

“Kenyan club Muhoroni Youth have been found guilty of activities related to the manipulation of football matches and competitions, and the club’s senior team have consequently been expelled from the Football Kenya Federation National Super League; the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has further ordered the relegation of the Muhoroni Youth team to the Football Kenya Federation Division One League ahead of next season.”

FKF, in a statement, reiterated that any form of manipulation in football in Kenya would not be tolerated and warned anybody involved in the steadily growing vice of match-fixing of dire consequences.

“Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirms receipt of official communication from Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) regarding the relegation of Muhoroni Youth Football Club to Division One, following their involvement in match manipulation.”

“FKF fully supports FIFA’s decision and reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on matchfixing and all forms of manipulation that threaten the integrity of the game. We are committed to working closely with FIFA and other relevant bodies to root out this vice from Kenyan football. The Federation will continue to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure that individuals and teams found guilty of engaging in match-fixing face the full consequences of their actions, in accordance with FIFA and FKF regulations,” the statement by CEO Harold Ndege said.

Ndege added: “We are launching a full-scale war on match-fixing in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and all relevant authorities. We cannot allow this vice to undermine the progress we are making to uplift the game. Anyone found culpable will face the full consequences of their actions.”
