Mudavadi resign as ANC Party leader
The newly appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi has resigned as Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader.
His resignation is in line with the constitution upon his approval of his nomination to the Cabinet by the National Assembly.
“Any appointed State officer shall not hold office in a political party,” Article 77 (2) of the constitution states.
Upon his resignation, Lamu governor Issa Timamy has been appointed as the Acting Party leader of ANC.
“The ANC Party wishes Mudavadi God’s blessings in his service as Prime Cabinet Secretary and heartily welcomes Governor Isaa Timamy to his new role as Party Leader,” said ANC Secretary-General Simon Gikuru.
Mudavadi formed ANC Party in 2015 after leaving the United Democratic Forum Party (UDF).
He was appointed by President William Ruto as Prime Cabinet Secretary to cordinate legislative policy and chair Principal Secretary Committees to supervise the delivery of government projects.
