Mudavadi presents nomination certificates to 1,800 candidates
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi has announced nearly 1,800 candidates who would contest for various positions around the country in the August elections.
The aspirants were given their nomination certificates by the party’s leader today at the party headquarters in Nairobi.
Mudavadi also stated that the party will have fourteen candidates for governor, including candidates from far-flung counties such as Wajir, Lamu and Marsabit.
“The nominations are now behind us and the real work of winning in the August elections now starts. Be our party’s ambassador. Our party slogan is peace and I urge you all to maintain peace as you hit the ground,” Mudavadi said as he congratulated the candidates.
He also advised the candidates to double-check that all of their papers are in order before the IEBC deadline.
Mudavadi pointed out that the only way to ensure the party’s viability across the country was for candidates to work hard and win more seats in all elective positions.
“We must work hard to have governors, MPs, senators and MCAs. That is the only way we will make our party vibrant and a force to reckon with, and have many nomination slots at both national and county assemblies,” he said.
Mudavadi, one of Kenya Kwanza’s founding members, lauded the candidates’ fortitude and encouraged them to stay the course as they promote the coalition and ANC party’s beliefs during the campaign season.
Since the party’s founding in 2015, the number of candidates has never been higher.
Mombasa, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Bomet, Nyamira, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia are among the counties where the party will run for governor.
