Mudavadi appointed as Prime Cabinet Secretary
Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has made a return to the cabinet after being appointed as the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
The announcement was made by President William Ruto yesterday while naming the Cabinet Secretaries in his government.
“He will oversee the implementation of national government policies, programs, and projects,” the President said.
Mudavadi will work in liaison with the newly appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Kithure in the supervision role of government policies and programs.
The new Prime Cabinet Secretary will also oversee the National government legislative agenda across all ministries and state departments in discussions and for conveyance with the party coalition leadership in both National Assembly and the Senate.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary office is the third highest position in the country after that of the President and Deputy President.
“That office is the most senior after that of the president and DP office,” Ruto said.
Mudavadi will further facilitate coordination across ministries in running and evaluation of government programs and policies.
He will also assist the president Ruto and his deputy Gachagua in the coordination and supervision of Government Ministries and State Departments.
“He will oversee the government projects. He will coordinate the national legislative agenda,” the head of state stated.
Mudavadi will lastly perform any other duty assigned to him by the Ruto.
This appointment comes in line with the Kenya Kwanza agreement which saw Mudavadi given prime position in government following Ruto’s win in the presidential election and the top role was to be created through an Executive Order.
The creation of the Prime Cabinet Secretary rank was accepted by all parties in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and concurrently signed by Ruto of UDA, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and ANC’s Mudavadi.
