Motorist to pay hefty fines if found parking on road shoulders, edges
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeHNA) has warned motorist of heavy fines if found parking in undesignated areas on the highway.
Additionally, motorists will pay hefty fines if found dropping or picking of passengers in areas where there are no bus bays.
Through a public notice, the authority responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management and maintenance of all National Trunk Roads said that these offenses will attract a fine of 30,000 under the traffic act CAP 403 section 45 A.
“Motorists are encouraged to utilize designated parking lots when parking their vehicles along the highways, parking on the road shoulders or otherwise, will attract a fine of Sh30,000,” part of the notice read.
“Motorists are also encouraged to utilize provided bus stops along the highways for picking, dropping passengers otherwise will attract a fine of Sh30,000,” it added.
