Police in Siaya county are investigating an incident where a 28-year-old woman and her son were mauled by two hybrid dogs in Siranga village, Ugenya.
The mother and her one-year-old son were walking alongside the road when the renegade dogs attacked and bit them multiple times.
A neighbour, according to Ugenya’s Deputy Sub-County Police Commander James Ngao, owns the hybrid dogs that were supposed to have gone missing last night.
The report that the dogs had assaulted the woman and her son was not received until today morning about 6 am., according to the police chief.
“According to the owner, two dogs were not accounted for last night and he slept knowing that they will return today morning,” he said.
The bodies of the mother and her son were also taken to the Ukwala sub-county hospital mortuary to await post-mortem procedures, according to him.
According to Ngao, the dogs’ owner would cooperate with the inquiry and, if proven guilty, might face charges of negligence.
