Most wanted ISIS terror suspects detained for 30 days

Kenya’s most wanted terror suspect linked to ISIS recruitment exercise Ali Hussein Ali alias Trusted One and accomplice Abdi Mohamed Yussuf have been detained for 30 days for police to conclude investigations.

The two were arrested in Malindi within Kilifi County on April 7, 2017 after the police received intelligence reports that they were involved in human smuggling and financing terrorism.

According to court documents by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, intelligence reports show that the two have links to ISIS, Al-Shabaab and the Magafe Human Smuggling network in Libya.

In an affidavit, the investigating officer, Abdi Shakur state that Ali Hussein Ali alias trusted one is a foreign national who was born in Mogadishu –Somalia and came into the country purporting to be a tourist.

He claims that intelligence report showed that Ali later moved to South Africa, Sudan and later to Libya where he joined ISIS.

“Ali came back to Kenya in November 2016 where he became a key agent at ISIS   and the Magafe Human Smuggling and financial facilitation network in the Country,” said the officer in court documents.

The court heard that Ali in the Magafe Network played a key role in facilitating the travel of recruits from Kenya and Somalia to join ISIS in Libya as well as facilitating illegal immigrants to enter Europe via Libya.

“The first suspect has on numerous occasion facilitated transfer of money linked to ISIS network in several countries in order to conceal the money trail and the money is finally sent to Libya,” claimed the officer.

The court heard intelligence reports showed that the two suspects and their associates do house recruits and illegal immigrants in lodges within Eastleigh, Malindi and other areas before facilitating their travel to Libya, Syria and other countries.
