According to Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache, who presided over the launch this morning at Kibera Level 3 Hospital noted, the accelerated effort aims to vaccinate at least 70 percent of Nairobi’s population in the next six weeks, with the region posing a risk of another pandemic wave because of its high population density.

“Nairobi county poses a threat of another pandemic wave owing to its high population density.

In the last 48 hours, the county has reported the highest number of new Covid-19 infections,” she said.

Currently, 48.9 percent (1,492,877) of Nairobi’s population is completely vaccinated, compared to a target population of 3,052,494 people.
