Missing lawyer Hassan Nandwa found dumped in Mwingi

City lawyer Professor Hassan Nandwa who mysteriously went missing last week has been found abandoned in Mwingi, Kitui County.

However, his client, convicted terror suspect Elgiva Bwire is still missing.

According to his family, he was found alive but shaken.

This comes days after the High Court ordered the police to produce him and his client Bwire within 24 hours.

“I have considered the submission made and I’m satisfied there is reasonable circumstantial evidence pointing out the high possibility that the second and third persons are likely in custody or at least they (police) are aware of their whereabouts,” stated Justice Anthony Mrima.

Justice Mrima also ordered Safaricom to produce Nandwa’s call logs from the day he went missing.

This was after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) filed an application against the Inspector General of Police, the Director of public prosecutor, the Attorney General and the telecommunications company.

However, the police denied knowledge of Nandwa’s whereabouts.

“It is unfortunate that Nandwa is a victim of crime. Police are doing all they can to trace him and reunite him with his family without harm,” Police spokesman Bruno Shioso said.

It is reported that Nandwa disappeared hours after he allegedly visited the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (APTU) head offices in Nairobi to receive Bwire, a jailed terrorist who completed his jail term.

The family of Muslim scholar pleaded with the government to help find him.

Bwire was initially sentenced to life after his conviction in 2011 but his term was reduced after an appeal.
