Minor killed as fire razes down building in Mukuru slums

A five-year-old child succumbed from injuries due to an explosion from a gas cylinder in Nairobi county’s Mukuru slums.

He died at the hospital while undergoing treatment to treat his wounds.

According to his relatives and the authorities, he suffered critical injuries in the event that may have stirred his death.

The child’s home and four other nearby buildings were all destroyed in the fire, life and property worth millions burnt to ashes.

According to officials from the Energy and Petroleum Authority, they would stay at the scene of the catastrophe until the cause of the inferno is established.

Officials from the red cross society also pointed fingers at the Ministry of Roads for poor urban roads deterring speedy access to catastrophic scenes.

However, the sentiments were rebattled by administration officers present who said the government is on course to constructing proper roads in informal settlements.
