The government has announced that this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held at the Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa County.
Interior and National Coordination Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the development of the park was almost complete.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the project by the National Celebrations Committee, Kibicho said the rehabilitation work will be complete in the next 30 days.
“The committee in charge is on an inspection tour to assess the progress of the work, surveying and mapping out the area in terms of security, ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20,” he said.
The tour by the committee comes just a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta made a visit to the area.
It emerged that the contractor is behind schedule, since the project was expected to be complete by May this year.
