Manhunt launched for headteacher who impregnated 16-year-old girl in Kitui

Detectives based in Kitui County have launched a manhunt for a headteacher who allegedly impregnated a 16-year-old girl.

The teenage girl is currently confined at a Kitui hospital following a botched abortion attempt over the weekend.

According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the class eight pupil is claimed to have “delivered a 5-month lifeless male foetus,” after being brought to Mumoni Health Centre in Kitui.

The victim’s mother said that her daughter had complained of severe abdominal pains, prompting her to rush the minor to hospital.

“After interrogation, the girl revealed that her school head teacher who was responsible for the pregnancy, had taken her to a private clinic in Ishiara, last Saturday, February 19, where she was given some tablets and asked to swallow,” the DCI stated in a statement.

According to the authorities, the teenage girl had significant stomach problems that necessitated her treatment.

The detectives announced that its officers had begun an investigation into the abortion’s head teacher and clinical officer.
