Man arrested for allegedly defrauding members of the public
Detectives attached to Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) have arrested a man suspected of defrauding members of the public.
Ochokol Victor Maina, alias ‘Badman Anchor’ has been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, by posing as a dealer in high-end mobile phones and associated products.
According to DCI, the suspect operates several Instagram pages including Bakcell Apple store and Netsol Apple store.
“He was arrested following numerous complaints from members of the public, who had lost hundreds of thousands of shillings to the scammer,” stated the sleuths.
The suspect, will be arraigned in court today to face charges of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 313 of the penal code.
Further, DCI has advised members of the public not to purchase products from unverified traders who have flooded the online market, taking advantage of them.
