Man allegedly kills his wife in Murang’a
Shock and grief engulfed residents of Gitiri Village of Murang’a County after a middle aged lady was allegedly killed by her husband.
The body of Beatrice Muthoni Muhanda was found lying in a pool of blood on her bed on Saturday morning.
Muthoni, mother of one, was cut on her neck as she sleept allegedly by her husband Joseph Kamaku who is still at large.
Blood-stained knife and machete believed to have been used in the murder were found placed on the bed where the body was lying.
Residents attributed the death to domestic violence claiming the husband was accusing his wife for infidelity.
One of the residents, James Kariuki claimed that the wife on Friday arrived home at around 7.30 pm from Nairobi and his husband found her talking with a bodaboda operator outside their house.
“Commotion ensued forcing the bodaboda operator to flee, but the wife was left behind and after intervention of the husband’s parents they resolved the matter amicably, only to find the body of Muthoni lying on bed in the morning,” lamented Kariuki.
The parents of the husband are said to have tried to solve the difference between the two but in vain.
Confirming the incident the area assistant county commissioner Benjamin Masika said from the information gathered, the two have been having domestic wrangles for quite long period.
Masika condemned the incident. “I appeal to couples to look for amicable means of solving family differences as there is no right for anybody to take life of another person,” observed Masika.He said police have started to search for the suspect to face charges of murder.
Elsewhere, body of a 28-year old man was found dumped in a thicket at Mugumo-ini village in Maragua constituency on Saturday morning.
The body of John Muigai was found by residents who were heading to their farm with his head and foot chopped off .
