Malawi President Chakwera to be chief guest at Mashujaa day celebrations

Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera will be the chief guest at this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations which will be held at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday.

Chakwera, who will be accompanied by First Lady Monica Chakwera, will arrive in the country tomorrow for a three-day state visit.

Chakwera and his delegation will be officially received at State House, Nairobi, on Thursday by his hosts President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

“His Excellency Hon. Lazarus Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi will arrive in the country on Tuesday, 19th October 2021, for a three-day State Visit of the Republic of Kenya,” stated State House spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo.

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho made the announcement while inspecting the Sh300 million Wang’uru Stadium in preparation for the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

“The County Commissioner’s residence in Kirinyaga County is now complete. It’ll be part of the State Lodge in Kerugoya Town. We’ve also delivered Phase I of the Kirinyaga Central Sub-county Police Station ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations next week,” he said.

He revealed that guests have already received their invitation letters and they are expected at the Stadium on Wednesday.

However, Kibicho reiterated that only 2,000 people will be allowed access to the Stadium in line with COVID-19 protocols.

According to Kibicho, billboards will be erected on roadsides and other strategic places adding that there are two sets of bill boards, one for President Kenyatta and a second for the Governor.
