KWS announces the reopening of parks, reserves, sanctuaries to visitors

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has today announced the reopening of all its facilities to visitors across parks, reserves and sanctuaries.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the partial lockdown in five counties and adjusted the curfew time in his presidential address on May 1,2021.

In a notice, KWS said they remain committed to strict adherence to Covid-19 prevention protocols as outlined in the Ministry of Health guidelines, to safeguard the health and safety of our staff and clientele.

“Wearing face masks, maintaining physical distance and washing hands or use of hand sanitiser is mandatory while in their facilities,” read the notice.

“Visitors are welcome to Zuru our parks, reserves and sanctuaries for a memorable experience. We thank you for your continued support.”

Closing time for all facilities has also been readjusted to 6:00 p.m.

On March 31,2021, KWS said that Parks, Reserves and Sanctuaries that fall under the disease infested counties, will close all picnic sites and other sites where visitors have a tendency to congregate.

“KWS wishes to inform members of the public that all National Parks, Reserves and Sanctuaries remain open from 6am, with an adjusted closing time of 5pm with strict observance of Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols,”  read the statement.

WS stepped up measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in National Parks and Reserve in line with the President’s directives.
