Kitui County gets 35 medics from the national government

The national government has deployed 35 medics in Kitui county to
alleviate acute shortage of medical personnel in the region.

The newly hired medics include 27 doctors and eight pharmacists who
will be deployed to all the medical facilities in the eight
sub-counties, governor Charity Ngilu said while receiving the
personnel at Kitui Referral hospital.

”The doctors will not only improve medical service delivery, but also
enable the residents to get proper medication at easy reach as there
will be a doctor in every major health centre in the county,” said
Ngilu.

The governor admitted that medical services in most health facilities
were in limbo due to shortage of health practitioners, but intervention by the national government will improve the
services.
