Kiambu governor Wamatangi, Senator Sifuna and MP Otiende Amollo rank top in inaugural Bobea Leadership Awards
Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi bagged the prize for the best performing county chief while Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo was feted as the leading MP in legislation and oversight in the inaugural Bobea Leadership Awards.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna won the Senate category, followed by Boni Khalwale of Kakamega while prestigious Most Outstanding Legislature Award went to nominated Senator Crystal Asige. Busia Senator Okiya Omtata bagged the human rights award.
According to the organisers of the awards whose ceremony took place at KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Wamatangi was picked over a raft of “visible and impactful projects” he has achieved in the last two years.
“Thank you, Bobea Leadership Awards, for recognising our achievements in the last two and a half years, such as construction of new ECDE centers, 26 new hospitals, medical equipment, installation of 6,000 solar streetlights, distribution of piglets to young men, improved kienyeji chicks to over 100,000 women, and maize seeds and fertilizer to over 500,000 farmers,” the governor said while acknowledging the award.
He added; “We also appreciate your findings on our challenges, particularly in the roads sector, and I want to assure the people of Kiambu that we have made rehabilitation of access roads one of our key agendas in the new financial year.”
Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency Chief Executive Officer Joel Wamalwa was crowned as the best performing Parastatal CEO.
Catherine Omanyo, woman representative for Busia County, won the top honour in the category for her innovative work, uplifting women and youth via sustainable development initiatives, leaving other female representatives in NGAAF Allocation speechless.
The finest nominated legislator was Esther Okenyuri.
