Kenya set to establish Prosecution Training Institute to curb transnational organised crime
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has said that the country will embark in establishing a Prosecution Training Institute in a move to fight transnational organised crimes.
Speaking during the 16th Annual General Meeting and Africa Prosecutors’ Association (APA) Conference, Haji called on the public to participate in the initiative in order to harness proactive, innovative and preventive strategies that are a reflective of the current evolving crime.
He stated that the institute, which will also be available for African countries will help in developing enhanced formal and informal cooperation mechanisms.
“It is important for us, as legal practitioners and experts within Africa, to enhance our efforts towards tackling transnational organised crimes,” he stated.
Haji emphasised the need to constantly contextualize transnational organised crimes to the African context.
“By doing so, we will become more effective in countering and combating transnational organised crime.”
