Kenya on Friday recorded 1,470 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 8,072, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed
This is a positivity rate of 18.2 per cent.
This brings the number of cases in the country to 68,193 since March, while the cumulative tests stand at 774,982.
Kagwe in a statement said that there are 1,364 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country.
Another, 5,726 patients are in the home-based care programme.
A total of 54 patients are in ICU, out of which 16 are on ventilatory support.
Also, 93 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 73 are in general wards and 20 in the HDU.
From the new cases reported on Friday, 1,397 are Kenyans while 73 are foreigners.
In terms of gender, 986 are males while 484 are females and the youngest in an two-month-old infant and the oldest is 88.
Meanwhile, 791 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 695 were from the Homebased care program while 96 were discharged from various health facilities.
Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 44,872.
From the new cases, Nairobi leads with 649 cases, Mombasa 183, Kilifi 124, Kiambu 77, Kericho 75 and Kakamega 37.
