Kenya records five deaths and 199 new COVID-19 cases
The country has recorded five COVID-19 fatalities and 199 new cases in the last 24 hours, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has said.
This was from a sample size of 2,416. The country’s caseload is now at 88,579.
Through a statement, Kagwe indicated that of the positive cases, 177 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners.
In terms of gender, 123 are males and 76 females. The youngest is a three-year-old infant, while the oldest is 90 years.
“Four hundred and sixteen (416) discharges are from the Home-Based Care Program, while 69 have been discharged from various hospitals,” the CS Mutahi Kagwe stated.
Nairobi county leads with 77 new cases followed by Mombasa with 21 cases, Busia with 20 cases, Uasin Gishu 19 cases, Meru11 cases, Kiambu 9 cases and West Pokot and Kilifi counties each with seven cases.
While Turkana has 5 cases, Laikipia, Narok and Kajiadocounties each have four cases, Murang’a with three cases, Kakamega with two cases and Nakuru, Kisumu, Embu, Machakos, Siaya and Kwale counties with one case each.
