Kenya records 551 new Covid- 19 cases as death rises tolls to 1,474
Kenya has today recorded 551 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of a sample size of 4,675 in the last 24 hours.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman said that the new cases brings the national total tally of confirmed infections to 84,169.
From the new cases reported, 525 are Kenyans and 26 foreigners among them 301 males and 250 females.
The cumulative tests since March stand at 839, 614.
Out of the confirmed cases, the youngest is a seven-year-old child while the oldest is aged 100 years.
Dr. Rashid confirmed that 266 have recovered out of which 206 are from Home Based Care program bringing the total recoveries to 18,146. 60 others have been discharged from various hospitals.
However, 1,275 patients are admitted in hospitals countrywide and an additional 8,070 under Home Based Isolation and Care.
71 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) out of which 36 are on ventilatory support.
Further, 88 patients are under oxygen support 70 of whom are in general wards and 18 others in High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The cumulative fatalities has risen to 1,474 after 5 patients succumbed to the virus.
Nairobi continue to sustain the highest infection index since March with 212 cases reported in the last 24 hours followed by Kilifi and Mombasa at 39 and 35 cases respectively.
Nyeri 33, Embu 30, Kajiado 19, Turkana 11, Kisumu 7, Garissa 6 and Mandera 2.
