Kenya Cup first edition lined up for next weekend

The first edition of the Kenya Volleyball Federation – Kenya Cup 2024/25 season has been slated for next weekend with eight teams already confirming participation.

According to a memo from KVF, Saturday 15^th has three games and four games on Sunday 16^th.The teams include in this tournament are; Pool A-Kenya Army, Kenya Ports Authority, General Service Unit and Equity Bank. Pool B will have Chema Volleyball Club, TrailBlazers, Kenya Defence Forces and Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU).

National Sports Organising Secretary John Oronje has directed that all teams will be accompanied by a non-playing referee, with a minimum qualification of National Level One certificate holder and practicing.

The day serves off with Kenya Army taking on Kenya Pipeline at mid-morning with both clubs anxious to start off with a bang with a title to fight for. In the afternoon, heavyweights Kenya Defense Forces meet with KCB Bank in what is highly anticipated to be a thriller. All of the two matches headline Pool A. In Pool B, the highlight match of the day will pit Kenya Prisons against Directorate Criminal Investigations (DCI). DCI which has a rich history in the tournament is set to light up the competition.

Other matches lined up on that weekend include; Chema Volleyball Club vs Trailblazers, KDF vs KAPU and GSU vs Equity on Day 1. On Sunday 16, Equity Bank  faces Administration Police while Kenya Army  will be up against GSU. All matches will be played at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Meanwhile, after three rounds of the KVF Men’s League, Prisons lead with 26 points followed by KPA on 24 points and Equity Bank on 18 points. The battle therefore for the Playoffs is intense and is expected to entice fans.

The teams likely to  make it to the list of Playoffs spots are; Prisons,KPA,Equity Bank,General Service Unite, Trailblazers, Kenya Defense Forces,Kenya Army and Kenya Forest Services.
