Karua hits out at Kenya Kwanza for alleged heckling in political meetings
Azimio la Umoja coalition party leader Raila Odinga’s deputy Martha Karua has asked the electorate to desist from being used by politicians to demean other politicians.
Speaking at Ole Ntimama stadium in Narok, Karua said that their main competitors Kenya Kwanza alliance are resorting to insults and heckling instead of debating on issues.
She asked electorates to listen to both narratives and make an informed decision.
“…we say respect is not slavery; we don’t want insults. We’ve come with respect and humility to ask for your votes. Raila has fought for your rights as Kenyans all these years. If you give him your votes, he will continue to fight for your rights. (Sisi tunasema heshima si utumwa; hatutaki matusi. Tumekuja kwa heshima na unyenyekevu kuomba kura zenu. Baba amepigania haki za mkenya miaka yake yote. Mkimpatia kura, ataendelea kupigania haki zenu),” said Karua.
“If you don’t agree with me, you have a right to have different opinions but please lend me your ears. Do not lose your votes to people who are not trustworthy even in their own villages. (Kama hukubaliani nami, ni haki yako kuwa na maono tofauti lakini naomba mnipe tu sikio. Usipoteze kura kwa watu ambao hawaaminiki hata kwa vijiji vyao).” She added.
This was the first time that both Raila and his running mate, Karua are campaigning jointly since her nomination as Odinga’s second in command.
Raila kicked off his two-day presidential campaign tour of Narok county where he defended Karua against criticism
Speaking in Kilgoris town, Raila told off the Kenya kwanza alliance for allegedly demeaning his running mate as an ordinary woman
Leaders accompanying Raila warned that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance cannot be trusted to steer the country towards the right economic path.
On the other hand, Karua led Jubilee luminaries in a series of campaigns in Kiambu county.
The leaders toured Limuru, Kiambaa and Kiambu town among other constituencies in the region.
