Kabogo threaten to quit Kenya Kwanza, accuses Gachagua of dictatorship
Former Kiambu governor and Tujubebe Party boss William Kabogo has threatened to quit the Kenya Kwanza Alliance accusing the coalition’s presidential running mate, Rigathi Gachagua of dictatorship tendencies.
Addressing his supporters in Thika yesterday, Kabogo said that Gachagua is not fit to hold any public office revealing that he warned Deputy President William Ruto not to pick the Mathira MP as his running mate.
According to Kabogo, Gachagua will cost Ruto so many votes.
“Before Gachagua was picked as Ruto’s running mate, I opposed. It is after he was picked that our relationship with UDA deteriorated. It is because that man is a dictator. My problem is talking the truth because I told Ruto Gachagua will cost him votes,” he said.
The former governor went on to accuse Ruto and the UDA party of planning to dwarf Mt Kenya fringe parties.
Kabogo who has seemingly fallen out with Gachagua, dismissed the possibility of him succeeding Ruto as President saying he is the Mt Kenya region kingpin.
“Just imagine that the DP is unable to conduct his duties as President then Gachagua is the one to take over,” he said.
He hinted at charting his own political path after he ostensibly told Thika residents that he had come for their blessings.
” I am back here because I want to start my journey afresh. I don’t like starting something afresh without the blessings of my home. I have seen Ruto and his UDA party want to swallow fringe parties. I have refused to be swallowed,” he said.
