Jovial retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, former First Lady celebrate Easter Sunday in Mombasa

Jovial retired president Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta have today joined faithful at a Nyali Catholic Church in Mombasa to celebrate Easter Sunday marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Kenyatta joined worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church in Nyali, Mombasa.

Videos shared on social media show Kenyatta seated among worshippers singing, kneeling, and praying during mass.

This is the first time the former head of state is being seen in public since the invasion at his family’s Northlands farm in Ruiru.

A former governor, former Nairobi Member of Parliament (MP) and a politician who has unsuccessfully vied for a parliamentary seat twice in Nairobi were allegedly linked to the daring raid where trees were cut down, livestock stolen and slaughtered and temporary structures constructed in full glare of televised happenings that went on for close to ten hours without any police intervention.

Just like at St Francis Church today, christians across the world have gathered at church services to hear messages of unity and hope, as they observe one of the holiest days Easter Sunday.

Many churches worldwide hold special services on Easter Sunday, to celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection after his crucifixion.

When asked about his Easter message by journalist after the service, Uhuru who was driving himself riding on his favourite SUV said that: “A happy Easter to every one of you.” Uhuru said after freely engaging the congregation outside the church amid chants by congregants saying: “we love you.”
