Indian national charged at Milimani court over forgery claims

An Indian national has been charged with forgery of a signature of Indian-Kenyan author and publisher Malkiat Sigh Dhillon in an attempt to falsely promote himself as a production manager at a printing company.

Cheekati Narsimha Rao was charged with intent to deceive after he forged the signature of Malkiat on a letter of appointment promoting himself to the position of Production Manager of Printing Services Limited.

While appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, Rao denied one count of forgery against the law.
The court heard that the offense was committed on April 1,2010.

Rao is said to have purported that the said letter has been signed by Malkiat, the Managing Director of Printing Services Limited in an attempt to falsely promote himself as a Production Manager of printing firm.

Through lawyer Kimani Wachira of Wachira & Mumbi Advocates, the victim, Malkiat, wanted the accused to be granted stringent bond terms in line with the offense.

He was released on Sh500,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.

The case will be mentioned on January 20, 2025.
