I’m no pushover, Kindiki tells critics

He says as DP, dealing with opposition politicians and other critics is a minor task for him

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says he has a proven track record as a performer and told his critics that is nobody’s pushover.

“In my previous docket as Interior Cabinet Secretary, I fought and defeated the Al Shabaab terrorists and bandits in parts of the Rift Valley. So in my position as deputy president, dealing with opposition politicians and other critics is a minor task for me,” said the DP.
Speaking during an economic empowerment drive in Thika Town constituency, Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza government will not be distracted from discharging its mandate including honouring pre-election pledges of uplifting low income groups.
“When the right time comes, we shall respond appropriately and firmly to our political rivals. For now, our focus remains on development. Our priority is building a better future for Kenyans, especially the youth,” Kindiki said.
He defended President William Ruto administration’s development agenda including construction of markets, affordable housing projects, ICT hubs and labour migration, among other programmes.
The DP also announced the upcoming launch of the Climate Works – Kazi Mtaani initiative, a revamped version of the Nairobi regeneration programme, which is expected to create over 110,000 jobs for young people.
“This is part of our broader plan to ensure that young Kenyans have meaningful, income-generating activities and are not left behind in the country’s development journey,” Kindiki stated
Local leaders present echoed his sentiments and rallied support for the government, urging residents to remain united behind President Ruto’s leadership to continue reaping development benefits.
Led by area MP Alice Ng’ang’a and National Assembly Majority Leader and member for Kikuyu Kimani Ichung’wah, the politicians dismissed opposition leaders as insensitive to the challenges facing majority of Kenyans.
Ichung’wah stated that the economic empowerment programme will continue in a bid to uplift the livelihoods of lowly Kenyans.
“Don’t be discouraged by the naysayers, those demonising the good works of the government, you’re the Deputy President of Kenya and continue crisscrossing the country supporting grassroot development,” said Ichung’wah.
Ng’ang’a lobbied for completion of the stalled Gatuanyaga-Komo-Githima-Kisii road which the DP ordered to be completed in the shortest time, the government having paid the pending bills that had occasioned the stalling.
During the empowerment event, women groups, youths and men benefited with motorbikes, poshomills, sewing machines among others.
Also present at the event were Health and Public Service Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale and Geoffrey Ruku respectively and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, among others.
