Igathe, Sakaja hold talks after battling out for Nairobi gubernatorial seat
Nairobi governor-elect Johnson Sakaja yesterday met with Polycarp Igathe, his competitor the just-concluded general election.
The two were spotted having a spirited conversation at a city hotel. Through his Twitter handle, Sakaja commended Igathe for engaging in ‘clean politics’ and putting up a good fight.
“Wonderful conversation and laughs with my brother Polycarp Igathe this afternoon.
Amesema ni #Naitunavyoitaka #SiasaSafi,” Sakaja stated. Igathe, Sakaja’s main opponent who vied on a Jubilee ticket, came in second place with 573,518 votes while independent candidate Ann Kagure managed 10,086 votes.
Early this week Sakaja stated that he will work with all leaders regardless of party affiliation, to improve the city. “The campaign is ended, and I am now the Governor of Nairobi.
My job is to serve everyone and to establish a team that will serve our people. We made promises, and we must keep them,” Sakaja stated. The outgoing Senator won the county seat with 699,392 votes.
