I6-year-old girl in custody after stabbing a minor to death in Bomet county

A 16-year-old girl is in police custody after she stabbed to death a minor at Mulot trading centre, Bomet county, following a squabble over the ownership of a 2 Gigabyte (GB) memory card.
The deceased is said to have been in possession of the said memory card when the suspect accosted her, but she refused to hand it over leading to the unfortunate altercation.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the suspect is said to have snatched a knife from the victim, which she was using to chop vegetables, before using it to stab her in the chest.
“The evening incident which occurred outside Sweet Wines and Spirits, next to West Inn bar in the sleepy Mulot Sunset trading centre has left sleuths and area residents perplexed,” stated DCI.
However, the officers on duty are yet to establish what precisely the minor and the teenager were doing at the said prohibited areas and what is more puzzling is whether they were intoxicated prior to the incident courtesy of a grown-up.
The deceased died on the spot after being stabbed on the left side chest while the suspect was apprehended soon after.
She is currently in custody at Mulot police station awaiting arraignment in court.
“We received a tip-off from members of the public that the suspect was moving to Bomet town. We are lucky to have arrested her immediately with the help of members of the public,” Bomet West sub-county police boss Francis Kigeri said through a statement.
The deceased’s body has been moved to the Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary while investigations into the incident continue.
Meanwhile, detectives have launched investigations into the matter to be able to establish whether the adults had accompanied the young girls to the liquor shops.
In the recent past, Mulot town has gained notoriety as a haven for mobile money fraudsters, with a majority of suspects engaged in the fast-spreading vice.
