Government allocates Sh30.1billion to economic stimulus programme

The Government has allocated Sh30.1 billion to accelerate the pace of economic growth and sustain the gains realised so far in an attempt to implement the third Economic Stimulus Programme.

The economic stimulus programme targets key product and service sectors such as Kazi Mtaani Programme, improving environment, water and sanitation facilities, for fertiliser subsidy and enhancing liquidity to businesses.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani noted that out of the Sh30 billion, Sh2.1 billion is for youth empowerment and employment creation under the Kazi Mtaani Programme.

“To further enhance the ongoing interventions, I propose a total of Sh20.6 billion in this budget to support implementation of various activities,” he stated. Sh8.2 billion has been allocated for improving education outcomes.

Sh1.3 billion for improving health outcomes Sh5.8 billion for improving environment, water and sanitation facilities; Sh1.5 billion for fertiliser subsidy and Sh1.6 billion for enhancing liquidity to businesses.
