George Natembeya resigns to contest for Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has resigned to partake in the Tans Nzoia gubernatorial race come August general election.

Speaking to the press in Nakuru, Natembeya acknowledged Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, and his Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, for giving him an opportunity to serve in that capacity.

“I will from now on focus on politics as l seek the backing of residents of Trans Nzoia to become their governor,” Natembeya announced.

He further accredited the role of his seniors and juniors who played a role in making his time as the Rift Valley RC successful.

“My rivals have been asking me to remove my official uniform and face them in Trans Nzoia. As from now, I hang my boots to teach them about leadership,” he added

Natembeya was endorsed by Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) to run as the governor of Trans Nzoia.

During a conference in the Western Kenya region, DAP-K leaders unveiled Natembeya as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the coming elections

Natembeya gave a recap of his time in office from being the personal assistant of the late Internal Security minister, John Michuki.

After serving under Michuki for 4 years, he was promoted to the position of District Commissioner in Murang’a County, where his main task was to take care of the Mungiki group, which he did effectively and successfully.

More than 20 senior government officials, including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries and heads of state corporations are expected to resign ahead of the polls.
