Gatundu South parliamentary seat gets new aspirant

The race for the Gatundu South parliamentary seat has intensified with the entry of an international televangelist Joseph Njuguna Warui, bringing to five those eyeing the seat.

Warui who is an evangelist based in the UK announced that he will be seeking the Jubilee Party ticket in a bid to wrestle the seat from the incumbent Moses Kuria.

He joins four others who have declared interest in the parliamentary seat once held by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

They include Joyce Ngugi, wife of former area MP Jossy Ngugi, businessman Kung’u Kibathi, Joseph Njoroge and Nairobi-based lawyer Joachim Kamere who has contested the seat twice before.

The aspirants, just like Kuria, will all be seeking the Jubilee ticket in the April party primaries and have promised the incumbent a bruising battle.

The controversial MP will also be out to get popularly elected having gone to Parliament for the first time unopposed following the intervention of President Kenyatta who prevailed on Kamere to step down.
